1. Root Cause Analysis (RCA)

Not all problems are what they seem. Sometimes, what you see are just symptoms, not the actual issue. Root Cause Analysis helps you dig deeper to identify the real cause of a recurring problem.

Key Tools:

Fishbone Diagram (Ishikawa): Visually maps out possible causes of an issue under categories like people, process, equipment, or environment.
Pareto Analysis (80/20 Rule): Helps you focus on the “vital few” causes that contribute to most of the problems.

Application Example:

Imagine a workplace where the same reporting error keeps happening every month. Instead of simply correcting the mistake each time, RCA helps the team find out whether it’s due to unclear guidelines, system glitches, or lack of training, so the problem doesn’t keep resurfacing.

2. SWOT Analysis

Sometimes, the challenge isn’t about fixing a problem, but about making better strategic decisions. That’s where SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) comes in.

Strengths: What advantages do we already have?
Weaknesses: Where are the gaps or risks?
Opportunities: What external trends or possibilities can we leverage?
Threats: What external risks might hold us back?

3. The “5 Whys” Technique
